Thanks for causing me to get out my copy of the article after too many years and have another look. As you say, Grew and Griffiths do in fact correctly identify these pieces as dagger suspension rings and in fact propose that they may be be the sole surviving components of as many as two sheaths. I also note that I had incorrectly remembered that there were four, whereas there were actually six, and note that of the six only one can actually be proved to have come from the Wallbrook, although all six are claimed to be.

Please take this as a formal retraction of the relevant comments I made above.
