I finally got around to rehilting this piece after I reshaped the blade.
This is one of the pugios that Soul of the Warrior sells, and also Battlemerchant in Germany.
Mine was purchased from Battlemerchant a month or so back. I removed the cast brass scales on the handle since they were cast, and very heavy. I also rehaped the blade by tapering it more towards the tip, and making the edges not as steep.
The handles are two layers of wood with the outer layer being olive wood from Israel. I thought this would give it a unique look and feel, and well within reasonable belief of being used in ancient times.
The grips were glued into place using hide glue then riveted with copper rivets.
I will polish the blade some more once I get a polishing wheel. For now this was all done by hand with 120 grit sandpaper. (that sucks to do)
