Great book!

This Osprey Elite Series (155) is well-written by our fellow-member Ross Cowan, and illustrated by Adam Hook. Not what you're used to in an Osprey - most color plates are aerial shots!

I received mine yesterday and I'm thrilled with it!!

ISBN-10: 1846031842

I just came across it in Waterstones the day before yestrday!
And yes, I snapped it up!
It is excellent, although I was a little confused by one of the coulour plates which mentioned a formation which I could not see on that page.

Actually there is more than one, although the pictures aregreat and do represent formation I am familiar with! Just not the ones on the image title!
Visne partem mei capere? Comminus agamus! * Me semper rogo, Quid faceret Iulius Caesar? * Confidence is a good thing! Overconfidence is too much of a good thing.

Actually there is more than one,
I think you'll find that had nothing to do with the author, or even the artist.

I've had a look at the plate captions and they seem to be correct. I suppose the problem is with the 'cuneus' not looking like a triangular wedge, etc.? All is explained in the text. Enjoy the book! Smile

My next project is the Roman conquest of Italy, so I hope to find time to write an article or two about manipular tactics. I'll also be working on an article about late Roman tactics for MHQ.

Cheers,
