The Fulham is for board member James B. The blade has been forged from a piece of antique bar stock. I think it was part of a horse drawn mower. The hilt is made from American black walnut, and ash.
The 2nd is my own Pompei pattern thats been re-ground, and rehilted from an Indian import. Usually I dont give these much thought, but the blade proved to be of good quality steel with a nice strong tang.
I reshaped the blade entirely it had the typical V found at the hilt. I removed about 1/3 the size from the crossguard, and some from the pommel. The grip is made from American curly maple.
I finished these up this morning, and thought I would share them with you.
I am open to any suggestions.

Awesome job Paul! I love the hilt components on the first one. Although, either those blades are laying in snow, or you did something awful to their edges...lol.

I was very productive yesterday I went ahead and made the scabbard for the Pompei style. Its wooden core covered in linen, and painted with milek paint and hide glue. I am not 100% finished with the chape since it needs a finial. I have misplaced the finial I have for it so I will make another sometime.

Great job Paul! I like the linen covering...and the colour 
Did you use a belt plate for the upper part of the scabbard, or did you stamp that somehow?
Also, how did you router the horizontal lines in the guard and pommel?

Yes Matt thats one of Matt Amts "Hunting" belt plates. I didnt want the typical pierced look that everyone copies.
I decided to use linen on this scabbard since I was tryin to produce a gladius without any investment. So I had some heavy linen laying around, and I thought it could have been used just as leather was used. The hide glue really gave the linen a much more durable surface than leather does. When I painted it with the milk paint in combination with the hide glue it set up like fiberglass.
The pommel was actually salvaged from the original Indian gladius. I stuck a nail thru the hole and let it rotate on the belt sander to remove some of the mass. I think I removed about .5 cenimeters from the overall diameter.
On others that I have done the rings on I just draw i on then carve it out with an Xacto blade, and then file it smooth.

Probably everyones copies it because it's the most representative of the period. I don't know any Pompei gladius scabbard with a belt plaque like at the upper side at the scabbard, but it don't means it have'nt existed.
My personal opinion it's, as possible, copy a real artefact if we have it.
A nice sword, indeed.

I just wanted something different from everyone elses. To me it adds variety to the group. When everyone has the exact same gladius, or helmet it looks too uniform in my view.

I agree completely, Paul.
If everybody copies the same example, then I think we are less realistic (in terms of a unit portrayal) than if we provide variety among legionary equipment.
