A good substitute for silver ? (not tinning)

I just had my attic helmet nickeled to resemble a silvered look.

It's a permanent solution and only cost me $50.00 (USD). I had it done professionally.

Does it look convincing ? You can see how it originally looked in my post above Tarbicus'. It's really brass.
