I just saw this on the used book circuit, and wondered if anyone has seen it, and if it is worth acquiring?
I have it. I like it, the color plates are worth having, as is the brief commentary on Roman armour.
"Just before class started, I looked in the big book where all the world's history is written, and it said...." Neil J. Hackett, PhD ancient history, professor OSU, 1987

Published posthumously, I believe (it is undated but generally accepted to be 1978). He also produced the awkwardly-named *What the Soldiers Wore on Hadrian's Wall* in 1976, again by Frank Graham, also with Embleton (but only Robinson got the byline). Some of the paintings from this are on display in Chesters museum as a tribute to HRR.
Yup, I've got both of those. Happy to loan them to you at the next workshop, Richard, if you remind me to bring them along. They are both slim paperbacks, but worth having.
