The Corinthian surely could and was used, but Xenophon (art of horsemanship) advocated against closed helms for cavalry:

Quote:[3] For the helmet we consider the Boeotian pattern the most satisfactory: for this, again, affords the best protection to all the parts that project above the breastplate without obstructing the sight.

A Spartan, being asked a question, answered "No." And when the questioner said, "You lie," the Spartan said, "You see, then, that it is stupid of you to ask questions to which you already know the answer!"

Correct. Yet we see from art that the Thessalians and Macedonians following Xenophons advice but the chalcidic, attic and thracis helmets remained in use in the late classical to Hellenistic times

Actually,by that time the corinthian was not usedeven by the infantry.Rarely do we see corinthians after 450bc. Earlier the cavalry was never a shock force but the corinthian was certainly used. In fact the hippeis are usually shown with typical hoplite gear.
