Dear Raffaele,
I just want to say how appalled I am at a recent thread on TMP. Comments were directed at you and your work that I was shocked to see. The sheer bad manners some of the posters displayed was completely unacceptable in my book.
I think you do a great service for those of us who love and are intetested in the Roman army. I look forward to your books, your views, your reconstructions and all the material you make accessible to amateurs like myself.
Strength and Honour to you!

Had a look at that thread on TMP. We would have moderated that at a very early stage- agree completely that it was unacceptable. But I don't think this is the forum to discuss other fora- I'm sure this is not the intention, but it may risk disputes spilling over from one place into the next.
Cheers

What is TMP? And yes, there could be a real danger, Caballo, of a fight from somewhere else popping a cork over here. That has happened before, IIRC. Let's be sure to prevent that here, what say you?

Guys,
Sorry. My intention was not to start any sort of dispute here.
I'd be happy for the moderator to remove my original if that helps matters.

I think TMP is a gamers modelling forum...
there are some really unguarded comments on there from people - obviously they don't have the same etiquette that folks on here adhere to from looking at their posts

I'm sure you meant no harm, Theo. We'll keep an eye on it. We make serious effort to avoid unnecessary conflicts, and try to keep the "necessary" ones civil. I'll bet we can handle it.
Don't feel repressed, nobody here is mad at you.

Dear Theo,
thank you very much for your comment. I also agree with Caballo that it is not question to do further discussions on the topic. As you could see I did not reply even to them, from the answers of the people on this site it was clear the difference between the people who really is interested to a true and objective analysis of the Roman military World, also with different opinions and views, and the people that has got just a superficial or very little knowledge of the Roman World in general.
I hope that the second volume of Arms and Armour (the III in the series) will be pleased by all the true lovers of Roman military, not question if then it will be subject of discussions or even criticism if the criticism will be useful for all of us.
Thanks again
Raf

Ok, ... but I still have no clue what "TMP" is. Please be so kind and tell us what it is, so we have an idea what you are talking about!

Guys,
Thanks for the kind comments. I just felt so shocked at what I saw.
Raf, I so look forward to vol III. My favourite era for the Roman army is from Severus to Aurelian.
Best to you all!
