First of all welcome 
16 cm is about normal for a tang for a origonal sword, now if you want to make the hilt start with the grip once that is done what measurement is left will be for the gaurd, pommel and pommel nut what I have found for myself I have to make the tang longer as I have large hands. Now not all Pompeiis have a reinforced tip of the pictures I have I counted 6 with the tip from the many, there are some still in there scabbards so ? on these ones, hope this is the answer you are looking for
