a gladius handle - Francisco Gutierrez - 01-25-2017 hi im francisco and i saw a gladius pompeii with a 16 cm tang but i dont know what type of measurest must be for make an historical handle and also have the question about the reinforced gladius point which is if all gladius hace a reinforced point or not sorry if my english is poor or bad thank you, francisco. RE: a gladius handle - brennivs - tony drake - 01-25-2017 First of all welcome 16 cm is about normal for a tang for a origonal sword, now if you want to make the hilt start with the grip once that is done what measurement is left will be for the gaurd, pommel and pommel nut what I have found for myself I have to make the tang longer as I have large hands. Now not all Pompeiis have a reinforced tip of the pictures I have I counted 6 with the tip from the many, there are some still in there scabbards so ? on these ones, hope this is the answer you are looking for Regards Brennivs |
