Volume II will cover the period from Commodus to Justinian, and Volume III will look at the period from Romulus to Marius.
Amazon.co.uk now says the book is 'temporarily out of stock'....

Can't wait for the Late Roman part, btw!

Quote:In the meantime Raffaele and I are nearing completion of another book for Osprey on Roman Naval forces.
Supposedly released June 10th:

Yesterday I got an email that the estimated shipping date has changed again, but with only a week, so it seems to be forthcoming.
I was lucky enough to meet Graham and lot's of RATer's in a York pub last night, and have a look at three of Graham's forthcoming publications. Even by candle and gas light, the illustrations were very inspiring. I think that illustrators, and Raffaele, seem to push the boundaries of reconstruction far more than re-enactors who tend to be conservative in their apporach. Anyway, lots of leather armour, which interests me. Everybody go out and order them.
Would it be possible to know which three publications were those? And maybe a little more information regarding contents (as long as Graham doesn't object of course).

It seems that Arms and Armour of the Imperial Roman Soldier will be out by April 19th; my updated order seems to imply it will ship by April 17th. Lets see. Roman Military Dress was also pushed down to October.
Graham,

Sounds excellent! So many books on the Roman army have little or nothing new to say. And those that are interesting have references beyond my reach. I look forward to collecting the series and I echo the 'poster' above in offering my thanks for making your studies available to the rest of us.

Theo
Any news on the book? My copy hasn't shipped yet (it was supposed to ship by the 17th of April, that is, today), and there is no update whatsoever at Amazon UK regarding the release date Sad
Thanks Guys, I hope you will not be disappointed when the books come out.

'Roman Military Dress' has not gone to the printers yet but the publishers still hope it will be released in May.

In the meantime the latest issue of 'Ancient Warfare' has a rather interesting reconstruction of mine which might be of interest, in particular to those of you who follow the Tunic Colour debate. Just to whet your appetite - archaeological evidence of a soldier with surviving traces of coloured wool on his body!!!

Graham.

Actually I was refering to Arms and Armor, not Military Dress, although I have the later pre-ordered too! At Amazon US there are some copies selling for ridiculous high prices which I presume are advance/review copies. Any news on Arms and Armor, Graham?

By the way, is that archaeological evidence included in Military Dress? Sounds great!

Thanks!
... waiting patiently in the ranks of the would-be buyers ...

Hello Theo

'Roman Military Dress' should be out this month with perhaps the first volume of 'Arms and Armour' following soon after.

I am just as keen to see them.

Graham.
Thank you for the info, Graham.
This month ? Is that for the UK release date ?

According to Amazon.com it's due out on July 1st.

Can you please confirm the US release date, Graham ?

Hello Theo

I have been informed by The History Press that 'Roman Military Dress' has now been printed and copies are on their way to me.

A used copy is available at the moment on Amazon UK ! Perhaps a review copy?

I have no information regarding US release dates but presumably it is not far off. However you can buy a copy direct from me if you are desperate, It will cost you a bit more than a copy from usual sources but I will sign it for you! Smile

Graham.
FINALY!

Thanks for the info, Graham!
