Pugio Scabbard

To follow up my recent pugio I thought I would finish up the scabbard this morning.

I reworked the one that came with it. I was going to tin plate all the pieces, but I decided against it for now.

Also heres a couple other small pieces I made. The knife is just a small utility knife based on Roman styles. Its around 9 cm long. This is for my wife.

I also made this awl since everyone seems to need to add extra holes to belts, or seg straps after the winter. It is not based on anything in particular.

Thanks Guys!

Christophe,

Its not as hard as you would think. It just requires having the right tools, and knowing how to use them properly.

Looks very, very good, Paul! In fact it reminds me of one beautiful pugio made by Godfrey Knight, if I remember correctly...

Nice work all round Primvs. Of course the frame of the sheath should really be iron but if you were to tin the brass as you have suggested you might the underlying brass would not be so obvious. My usual advice about terminal expansions applies here as well. You really need to put a rivet through the terminal expansion. The Titelberg sheath that yours appears to be based on has quite an unusual rivet in this poosition.

Well done on a very good job so far though.

Ave Paul,

very nice and far better than the standard version!
Big Grin I'll try that, too with my second one.
