Roman soldier painting with mud, blood and swet.
#1
Hi all I have been wanting to do some portraits of Roman soldiers etc and this is the first one. See what you think with the damage and scars etc.

Also if any one has a really nice kit and wants to work with me on making other portraits either basic ones like this or action portraits let me know.

Below is the small image and you can see a larger one at PWLawrence.com. Just click on the image at my site to see the large version. And you will want to look at the large one becouse it really shows off the detialSmile

Oh also if any one is interested if there is enough interested I would like to do a run of affordable limited edition prints either with this image or future images. But I would need to know what price range and size people would be interested in.

Wow, dude that is phenominal! What program did you do that in??

I'd be interested in something 2nd century, showing a Dacian era legionary with a cross braced helmet...maybe same idea as this one.

Thanks glad you like it. I used facegen to get started on the face then everything else I did in photoshop.

As far as the Dacian era legionary I am open to doing anything I just have to figure out how to pay for my time. To give you an idea something around this complexity I normaly charge about $500 to do. But if we can find several people interested in the same thing then the cost could be split.

Any way I am open to about anything but still have to figure out how to pay the bills along the way hahaSmile

Wow that's amazingConfusedhock: ! The only thing I find a bit strange is the way the cheekguards are tied. It seems a bit loose to me...

I might be interested in some prints if they aren't too expensive... I have no idea about the price of such a thing...

Well for signed limited edition signed prints I would say $50 for a small size print to $100 for something in the 13x19 size range. But I would have to have enough interested to pay for the heavy fine art paper etc. I believe the smallest package I can order is 20 sheets. But I am thinking probobly if I had orders for hmm in the range of 5-15 I could do it. I would just have to sit down and figure up the cost and time etc.

Oh and besides the blood I tried to give him a little of that thousand yard stare look you would get after killing people all day and seeing your friends killed etc. Seemed to fit.

Ave Patrick,

very impressive, not only the detailed kit, but especially the look of his eyes you mentioned.

Don't want to meet him in that moment and say the wrong word...

Most cool!

Here's a picture of some battle damage, SCA's Estrella War, 2004.

Left lobate hinge warped, plate dented.

Also: note the replacement hinge on the right side..

The reddish smear on the right side of the left Upper Shoulder Guard plate and the darker red smear below the strap on the Top Back Collar plate are blood

IMHO, the eyes are too clear - if one is tired, the eyes are of reddish color (mine always are Smile ). Also, the lips are too clean, I think. Signs of dryness, even sores would be appropriate.
