Dendra cuirass moves to Corinth
#16
According to Astrom, the Dendra plate thickness is around 1mm. My replica was made from 1.6mm plate but after working and polishing its thickness varies from around 1.3-1.0mm. If you take into account the decades of polishing the original while it was in use and the centuries of corrosion afterwards, I am thinking that my replica may be very close in thickness to the original when it was first made. With the exception of the greaves. Mine are considerably heavier than the originals.

I should probably come around here more often. Interesting conversation. Ridiculous to say that the armor was for ceremonial purposes. Bah! I hate it when people who know so little about armor write about it (Especially when they think they have considerable knowledge, which seems to be the case here!)

In any case, Ioannis, I would be very pleased if you'd join the Bronze Age Center forum myself, which Stephanos kindly posted a link to previously. You would be very welcome there!

Cheers, good men.

Dear Gregory,

First of all, many thanks for your invitation. I'll certainly join the BA Center.

Second, I didn't write the reports I posted. They appeared in the Greek press recently. Of course, I disagree with all those who argue that such an armour was only for ceremonial use.

Cheers,
Ioannis
