Helllo Mike, sorry to ask so late in the post, but is that Albions newest Pompey Gladius? Looks nice none the less. I have two of their Mainzs, and even though thay are not good for re-enactment, unless you blunt them, I love them , non-the-less! Also your mainz looks like the one I bought for use in re-enactment. Does your grip rotate around the tang, or is it just mine?
I am considering modifications to it.

Byron,
My Pompeii style Gladius is indeed manufactured by Albion. It was their first generation of Roman Swords and is no longer available through them to the best of my knowledge.
My Mainz is manufactured by Deepeeka, and like yourself, the one I use for any type of close quarter drill since the edge is unsharpened. My grip does not rotate around the tang.
You might be able to notice that I sanded down the pommel a bit on mine to allow for easier manipulation since the grip is a bit thin for my hands. I kept having the pommel rub/bump against my wrist anytime I tried any maneuver besides a thrust.
You should notice that if you put some muscle behind the pommel, it does screw off. Not sure if this helps, but you may be able to either tighten down on it to stop the grip from spinning, remove the pommel to replace the grip, or perhaps remove the pommel and apply a tough epoxy down the grip to stop it from rotating.
That said, for the price, I still find the Deepeeka Mainz to be a solid sword for the money.

Thanks Mike! That is actually how I discovered the grip rotated :o , was trying to see if I could unscrew the pommel! Was scared to break it after that lol! Will maybe be a little bolder now!
Regards

Here's mine... this is after I replaced the hilt and handle with an eagle's head and did some custom embossing work on the plates
