Thank you all! Ivan, I have those same pictures too (Goldsworthy & Osprey). I think the only proof of late roman mask is some obscure found from Istanbul and the dating is not bullet-proof sure either...

Robert, I would like to have pictures of these masked helmets, I`ll send you a PM...
