I think Christian Cameron and Steven Pressfield are the only recent novelists doing Greek military history. Both are excellent. You might also try Mary Renault's books on Alexander and Theseus, which are classics. If you can find a copy, Rosemary Sutcliff's The Flowers of Adonis is a great novel about Alcibiades.
Plenty of Roman novels about these days. Have you tried Harry Sidebottom, Antony Riches or Ian Ross?
