I found the Evocarti very interesting. I was discussing it with a friend of mine after reading Ceasars Legions and it was brought up there several times, most notabley when the civil war broke out and Ceasar chased Pompeii inot Greece. One of Ceasars favorite First Spear Centurions returned via Evocarti and was killed there. This was based on Ceasars own writtings. Maurizio informed me that legionare were and did request to be allowed to be recalled to active service. After all that time of campaigning to come back to fight says alot about their fighting spirit.

Even in todays military they excercise call up rights on retirees for up to 10 years. After that they are deemed to expensive to retrain.
