Phalera constructions

Renatus.
I think that with the same name on the front of one of the pieces ( that is the Cupid figure as that is the only one it could have gone onto ) of the phalera and the dish having the exact same name my in fact have some kind of association, and where Maxfield as you say makes the point that dishes are evident from the republic and none from the imperial period this particular dish shows it may well be the a good reference to say it could indeed be of imperial period.

The dish (or rather what was left of it) and the phalerae were marked with the same name and, presumably therefore, belonged to the same person. I don't think that we can go much further than that.

Renatus .
As far as the dish and indeed what was left of it was enough for me to have made the only copy there is of it to date I would think then following the papers of Friedrich Matz I gave it the central emblem of the Emperor Titus Flavius as seen on the last page however here is how it now appears on my wall at home.

Here is an updated version of Phalarae as we started discussions. I hope you like it.

Gagan.
It is difficult to judge just where the waist line is with these phalerae you have shown and why I mention this is that should anyone wear these they also have to have a clear space between the pieces to be able to fit their dagger and belt over them, so is that strap going around the wearer a little higher than waist level that should allow a soldiers belt to fit just above the lower row of pieces.
If you go back to page 2 of this topic you will find how there is a double belt arrangement being used on ones I have done in the past.

Gagan,

I agree with Brian that the lower horizontal strap should pass right around the body as well. Both it and the strap above it should be adjustable at the back to allow for different body sizes.
I also think that the two vertical straps should be able to be adjusted at the back in order for the phalerae to be drawn higher up on the front of body if necessary.

I don't think anyone would mind if that ended up costing a little more, as phalerae are rather a special set of items anyway.

Similar phalerae set but on me. I feel very comfortable with straps hanging that way. I have given the exact dimensions to Mr.Gagan. These phalerae models are supplied by me and my brother to use from Deepeeka. Of course, I am not claiming that this is the only way to connect the straps and phalerae . Reenactment society presents many different options in different clubs.А single buckle is enough for me.Оf course many colleagues used two buckles.

I added the extra strap at the bottom level, to give it more stability. Here is an updated picture.

It would help a great deal if people would learn how to rotate their pictures before putting them up side ways not a difficult thing to do please.

That is so much better indeed and I have to say that the extra strap you have fitted at the bottom does give a much better and stable and more secure appearance to the harness.
