Size....

Spent a very happy weekend in South Wales, and managed to get some time in the Caerleon Roman Legionary Museum. Couple of things caught my eye:-
-Enamelled belt fasteners- never seen these re-created
-The tiny size of the scale and mail. I couldn't measure then as they were under glass, but I'd estimate the mail to be c 1 cm diameter and the scales to be about the same length. The remains are all fused together, but I'd welcome any other comments?
1cm OD for roman maille sounds right. Even smaller sizes were frequently used.

We tend to use a standard size of 4mm internal (ie: about 6mm external) diameter in the R.M.R.S.
