Cethegus\' type A/II pugio
#1
I was looking for pugio reference and stumbled across this Flickr photostream of the making of a pugio. Not sure if it's been posted before (I might vaguely recall it), but what grabbed my attention were how the hangers were made, and especially how the tang is short and the wood fills the spacing between the outer metal grip plates at the pommel. It's rare to see, given how ths type of pugio did (as a rule) have a shorter tang than the usual modern reconstructions. The tang had two extra flush rivets above and below the central rivet on the grip.
