Thanks for the link! I think 3 - 5 bolts per minute is a low estimate. With some hours of scorpio drill over 2 days and a few adjustments on the weapon we (http://legio8augusta.de) managed a record of 12 bolts fired in 60 secs with a 3 man crew :-)

It claims that the test catapults, "contrary to ancient reports", still worked properly in heavy rain. True?

Auch bei Dauerregen sind die Geschütze, anders als in antiken Schilderungen behauptet, einsatzbereit und funktionieren. Das haben die Tests in Trier gezeigt.

That or it means they did something "wrong" in how they reconstructed them ...
