Unless the Tyrins helmet has cheekpieces that come together to touch under the chin I can't see how that fragment can be depicting the Tyrins helm.

Quote:Unless the Tyrins helmet has cheekpieces that come together to touch under the chin I can't see how that fragment can be depicting the Tyrins helm.In Mr Kasner´s reconstraction according to Mr Amt "It came out too small and shallow" and this makes me think that the chieckpieces probaby touched under the chin but again I am speculating. Having look again at the Thrakian helmet with the "face mask" like chieck pieces I must say that your commends gave me food for thought. Who knows the answer might be one "pick strike" away and there are images that I saw in the Bronze Age Center that made me going through my books again. (like this Corinthian helmet with the "celto-norse" type horns!!!!!!!!)

The link shows Greek horse armor from South Italy around 480 B.C
http://rubens.anu.edu.au/raid1/cdroms/w ... 102068.JPG We cannot talk of catafracts but some people did take the extra step to protect their horse from harm. Hind regards Stefanos
