@M Demetrius: I wouldn't be suprised that had happend. Some of us practice archery for a long time now and we were quite surprised with the ease of learning when shooting the balista. One of us never had shot anything before and he was hitting a man sized target within a couple of shots.
@Fidelis Sam: Our Ballista (a 3.5 span - Vitruvius proportions) reaches around 480m with a TTT (time to target) of 4.25 seconds. Still has enough energy to penetrate and damage a human sized target. We do not "force" our springs in any way if we used full strenght on the spring coils we would reach around 750m with more or less half the impact energy of a .357 Magnum. (Going 110% on the spring coils is possible but not advisable).
