Roman helmets are usually listed by estmated first use dates but will have been used for
a long period afterwards. Perhaps first used by the Legions then passed down to the auxillia then even given to friends and allies. Many different helmets (some new some old) may have been in use at the same time even within the same unit or geographic area.
A newly raised unit may have all the same helmet at first but losses transfers resupply
would change that within a few years or perhaps a few weeks in wartime.
