Ancient battles decribed from both sides
#1
Which ancient battles were described by the sources from both sides?
i know 3 of them:
Leuctrae
Edessa
Cunaxa
Could somebody add some battles to this list?

Do you mean "we have (written) sources surviving from both sides" or "we know there were (written) sources from both sides"? What counts as a source- do only detailed written descriptions of the fighting count?

For Alexander's three famous Persian battles, especially Issos, our sources probably had access to sources on both sides. The Babylonian Astronomical Diaries mention Gaugamela, and a stela by an Egyptian priest mentions Issos.

I have not checked this forum frequently since 2013, but I hope that these old posts have some value. I now have a blog on books, swords, and the curious things humans do with them.

Gaugamela (Arrian presents the Macedonian side; Diodorus + Astron. Diaries the Persian side); Kadesh (Hittite and Egyptian).

How about battles of Roman Republic/Empire Civil Wars? Would they count?
