Roman defeats by cavalry
#1
Title says all. (Apologies if this is in the wrong spot)

How many defeats did the romans suffer from enemy cavalry? And how did the enemy cavalry achieve victory.

Note: Let's not have another can horses charge into solid infantry debate. Please.
Ben.

Carrhae: Crassus vs. the Parthians comes to mind - horse archers vs. infantry and cavalry without means to counter them. But the Romans, although suffering a humiliating defeat, soon recovered from that.

Sassanid victories over Rome (e.g. Barbalissos and Valerian's Carrhae) were acheived mostly through cavalry.

Of course, many defeats were initialised with the defeat of the Roman cavalry by enemy cavalry. Such as defeats at Cannae and Adrianople.
