I suspect I went there expecting a wet weekend and small crowds due to motor racing and the World Cup. Instead the weather was good, the crowds brilliant and the company excellent.

The arena was rather small and Hal couldn't really let rip. But the other riders excelled. Visually the cavalry shows were stunning. Frankly it doesn't matter what the video and photos are labelled, since only Comitatus do this sort of thing in the UK. And Leg. II are very kind people.

We had more face mask helmets but ran out of horses, due to pregnancy and lameness etc. etc. We have other horses coming on but they are young and really should be kept for next season. But at Maryport it is back to 4th century gold plated bling. A good place to be Smile We have to carry less kit and life will be easier. I liked the photos of the practice, with cloaks instead of silver.

Those are brilliant! Especially the photographic evidence of Hal and the contos. Hal doesn't like the contos, it makes him bolt, but looking around the rest of us it had to be me in that show. I wrote a short suicide note, dropped the reins and took off in a very short arena. We stopped just short of a wall, with the contos on the ground in front of us. I broke one of my horns in the process. But with these photos I can pretend I carry it all the time. Excellent!

The shot of Catherine's mad race horse doing a bunny hope is very amusing.
