Quote:The plan is to create a point of light where all the milefortlets and turrets were located, with an additional point of light between each of them.
Which makes me ask 'why?!' If a third of a mile was good enough for the Romans, why are intervening lights necessary? Doubtless 'art' will rear its ugly head in any official response to such a naive question. I can't help wondering if a similar thing will happen to the Limes Arabicus stunt where they put beacons on a series of Roman signal tower locations in Jordan and some of the locals thought they were being invaded! Let's not forget there was a plan (by one of those strange Anonymous characters who emerge in times of trouble) to (re)commission the frontier in the Elizabethan period to keep the Scots out.
Still, a good idea, albeit refracted through a corporate lens darkly.

Which one? Lighting up the frontier, or keeping the Scots out? (Be careful how you answer! )

Depends upon which side of the border I'm living at the time.

I think by now I've earned the right to be VERY grumpy. Besides, Nero probably thought it would be 'pretty' when he (allegedly) did that torches thing with the Christians. Being pretty doesn't make it right. Now 'fun' I could accept.

It looks like they changed the URL. Here is the new one for this specific event: http://www.illuminatinghadrianswall.com
It's Saturday, 13 March. I've never seen Hadrian's Wall, unfortunately. I would love to see this.
