I had found that a 9 ft shaft was the longest that i could control comfortably- but with a slender spearhead and sauroter you could easily have a 10 foot overall length.
The continuuing saga above calls to mind an overarm dory dispute that i had with a friend. He came off beter because I lacked a sauroter on my dory at the time and he had the longer reach due to the counterweight on his. (he possibly was a better duellist admitably)
