Good reasonably priced wool sellers
#1
Hi Guys..

I am having trouble sourcing some specific colours of wool and the usual suspects with regards to suppliers haven't been as reasonably priced as I would have liked.. trying to charge £10 a meter for wool mix fabric is not reasonable for me..

If anyone is aware of suppliers, including small local haberdashery shops they are fimiliar with, then please let me know,

Cheers

Hi Claire,

I have been getting lately some beautiful loom woven wool and leg puttes, in both herringbone and diamond twill from a Swedish lady, Jenny of
www.agirshus.com . Some are in natural dyes and some in modern dyes approximate to natural dyes. Cost is about £27.00 per meter but worth every penny.

That Danish site is very expensive i'm afraid. I just did a currency conversion for some of that herringbone weave and it came out at £42.00 meter!! I have just recently purchased an end of roll piece of pure wool herringbone in virtually the exact same colour as the green/yellow example and got it for £12.00 for two and a half meters...

I suppose its hit and miss, but if one can find it, then its worth rummaging through the remnant racks in a local fabric shop

Lovely stuff though - not strictly 'hand' woven as its shuttle loom produced - and probably a little uniform a weave type for warranting paying that much money for the fabric

Hi Claire

Then you got a bargain Big Grin . I am a bit suprised at the cost of Jenny's cloth though, I just paid over a hundred and thirty inclusive of p&p or four meters. Prices have certainly gone up due to the present financial 'crisis' but that is down purely to the currency exchange rate as her own prices have not changed any.

I have paid in the past what some might consider silly money for natural dyed hand loom woven wool that I have commisioned...but don't tell the wife  Regards to Steve, John, Kath etc
