Chassenard belt plates silver with gilding?
#1
I was recently told that the original Chassenard belt plates with the emperor/cornucopia are made of brass with a thin silver foil and some gilding. The silver foil/gilding is news to me.

I know that the ones from Swtizerland with the emperor/cornucopia are just brass and they show no sign of silvering or gilding.

Any ideas? Maybe I am missing something?
