Roma Aeterna - Gathering of the Legions
#46
Well, I want to go to Rome, as I saw very little last year, so may just go for a week and sight see.

So has anyone heard from Maurizio regarding the chariot races? I emailed him and he never responded.

This is what I am getting at. Seems to be a bit of a scam tbh. All the promises of subsidised travel, accomodation etc. but the silence is deafening. The website hasn't been updated in months and nobody is responding to the messages on here.

No wonder the admins were asking so many questions at the start of the thread!!

Well that is a shame. I was really looking forward to the chariot races.

Unfortunately this happens time on time again, when organisers overlook the amount of work and expenses to run a decent festival. You have to only start looking forward to an event as soon as you have the tickets in your hands, would be my advice.

Morning All

I have been chasing this and have now had a reply!!! See below and all becomes clear - looks like we will be looking at next year if all goes to plan for them...... I sent
.....................

Dear Mauritius

Please will you let me know what is happening with this event. Is it on or not?? October is not far away and the logistics of accommodation, flights and transporting kit become more difficult the closer to the event we get. It also becomes more expensive.

If you want this event to be as good as it could be, groups and individual re-enactors NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING. There are a lot of people who want to support you and this event so please keep us informed. You said you were to be in Rome from May to October this year…. Are you??

Is this event on or not?? A simple YES or NO will do

Yours in anticipation

AND THE REPLY

Ave Titus

We are working very hard to have all the permissions from the Roman Administration.

This has not been a good and easy year due to elections among other things.

Vadis al Maximo will not take place this year in order to have the possibility of a larger show in MMX.

We have two tentative dates, one in April and the other in September.

All will be published in the web site www.vadisalmaximo.com after the final meeting with the city the first week of September.

This is the first information that has been released after the ok of Rome’s Major.

Thank you for your patience, but we want to deliver a lifetime experience!

Mauritius Comellus Carliis

Hope that all helps

Cheers

Mark

Thanks Marcus for getting to this bottom of this mystery. It would have been nice if Maurizio had given us an update sooner, but no matter since I was forced to push out my visit to Rome this year by a couple of weeks. I hope no one is out money because of this. It will be interesting to see if they manage to ever organize this function.
