You sure it isn't one of Jorge's New hispaniensis?

Positive. The top lobe on the find's tri-lobat pommel is larger than Jorge's.

 I was only joking Jorge...
Is that the one they were speaking about last year? I recall a thread about a new find, in Africa IIRC? :?

I make the tang from the pommel, minus a minimal guard, to be about 6.2cm. The pommel must be on wrong, or it follows the sizing of that tiny tiny grip in the British Museum.

Thanks for your comments.
Here are some new measurements taken after the removal of the scabbard and the restoration:
total length 94.5 cm
blade 77.5 cm
tang 8 cm
pommel 9 cm
blade max thickness 0.8 cm
Still too long for a gladius hispaniesis, I guess.
Could someone illustrate a little bit more the evolution from the Celtic swords to the gladius hispaniesis proposed in
[url:2ev4lvl3]http://www.mambri.com/CosasArmillum/hispaniensis.html[/url] ?
It sounds interesting considering the length of our sword.
The pommel is solidly attached to the tang and is in its original position.
They are now working on the scabbard which still retains the point ball tip and the fours suspension rings.

I wouldn't be too sure about that.

Yes I would agree, the ones I have from Mark morrow are Loooong!
And so is the Armillum one and the Deepeeka one too!
I can't give a measurement on the Morrow ones, but Jim and Ade could on the other two...?
