I've said a retrospective blow, that means that after a thrust, you can move back doing a cut.

they used their gladii both ways, a gladius has two cutting sides and one thrust side.

Hardly. The vast majority of any army at this time used spears. Only a small minorty wielded spatha-type blades.

Anyone who has handled any Roman gladius will quickly realise that it is equally capable of thrusting and cutting. I'm surprised that this thread is still going.

I have used the Gladius numerous times for thrusting as well as cutting and its a great blade!
