How about a shave horse? Does anyone recognise this kind of thing from any artistic sources they may have seen?

Not only i recognise it from artistic sources, but also used it at our open air museum here in Eindhoven.
No metal parts were used in our reconstruction.
I will try to see if there is still one standing around and in use.

Hope they have the bow-lathe ready and in use.
