Greg, in pic 42, there is a guy in a white tunic with blue clavi!
Do you know who he is and where he got the cloth from?
That is what I have been after for ages.

Those pictures look really great. Sad I couldn't attend this time. I surely hope to be there next time! Looks like it's really worth attending.

A really great event, my first public event and likely not the last! An excellent experience, I was very glad to fight and have fun alongwith the Herculiani, Foederati and Limitis, and happy to meet some RATers too, including Redwald

I can confirm that was really impressive !
For High empire, they were about 160 legionnaries and a few more officially.
Only 20 gauls unfortunately.
Late romans were 35 which is our record though no foreigner troops were present.
The total number of reenactors from gauls to William the conqueror's normands was 550 officially and in reality about 600.
Organisers exploded their budget to gather all these troops and It could have been the last Festival and the end of the museum.
Fortunately, the event attracted 10600 visitors on two days which is a lot compared to the population of the region.
Marle is a bit the bottom of nowhere and situated on the frontline of terrible battles from the first world war. So lot of villages around have been deleted and never reconstructed due to the pollution of the soils by dangerous ammunitions. The main industry of the region was sugarbeets and the factorys are now closing. So, I would thank all the participants who gave another image of this region which is also rich of ancient history. That's not everyday that the national TV goes to Aisne.
Next year, the thema will be the middle Age and I guess that roman troops will be back in 2010. I don't know if it will be so big (the place was limited) but I guess it will be really great once more !
Bye !
