Well, so how thick of a copper alloy sheet do you think would be good to start with, for pounding one of those basic round bosses? I know there are other shapes, but just round with a round flange. How thick?

Original finds of cupric alloy umbones average thickness ranges from between 1.0mm and 2.0mm at the heavier end.

Sorry to sway, but would that be aplicable to republican scuta umbones too?

I have some large sheets of about 2mm brass, and a load of shaping anvils coming soon!
