Need a lamellar cuirass!

I would like to have a lamellar cuirass (I won`t do it myself, thanks :wink: ). Does anyone know where to buy one
(preferably in europe). I have tried to find one for a long time now in vain Leather lamellars are considered too...

Until now i haven't seen anyone, on markets/events, who sold new iron Lamellar cuirasses, only the plates.
Maybe you can buy a complete one second hand, worked for one of mine.

This is made by the same guy who supplies to the website you have listed in this thread - although you will probably find it cheaper to buy direct from him as his prices will be cheaper- I got this and a lamellar gorget made to measure for £170

The guy who makes these is called Stanislav .. I can't find his actual website at the moment - but he suplies to a fews others in Europe... He also does beautiful nomadic style belt purses in the hunic and avaric styles

I see that your Lamella overlap top down (infantry?), mostly you see them overlap bottom up (cavalry?) .

As there is very little evidence from the late 4th century on lamellar, we are in fact using what remains of the evidence of the Dura so called 'leg guards' which lace top down but also from pictorial evidence from the Pazyryk tombs which denotes top down lacing. As you may be aware, the Scythians were noted equestrian experts... (even if the temporal period is 5-600yrs earlier)

The tope down method is also used in Eastern styles of Lamellar, notably of Byzantine and Magyaric origins. The Magyars, again were a notable Equestrian horse culture

If it is a reconstruction of "upper leg guards" then the top down overlapping makes sence.
You even see this on later skirts of suits of armour.
You also see the same thing with manica

The Lamella from the Niederstotzingen (Germany around 7th century) overlap bottom up for the cuirass en top down for the skirt.
There is a carolingian picture of guardsman wearing bottum up Lamella.
I beleive that the Birka lamella followed the same method, both being 9th / 10th century.

Looks like all the leather lamellar is in his style, he is a leatherworker by trade I think - He does make stuff for a lot of people - I don't know how he turns stuff around so quickly, he made mine within a couple of days and it was just the Polish post office that took forever to get it to me!!

I'm thinking of getting one of his Appliqued Kaftans for my 7th Century Nomadic impression when I can afford it.. I should imagine they will cost a pretty penny!!
