Reconstruction of a Celtic Gate/Wall
#16
Is this part of the Obergermanische-Rätische Limes?

This 550 km frontiere is now a UNESCO protected site and is being reconstructed in parts. Most reconstructions are in the north west.

There is a good DVD about it with some trailers:

Which two?

Stichting themapark Limes/Noviolocus of board member Robert Wimmers together with stichting Chariovalda and stichting Batavia of Melchior de Grood.

Don't forget the buildings reconstructed in :
HOME (Eindhoven), Dongen, Haps, Lelystad, Wilhelminaoord, Educatief erf Apeldoorn, Archeon (Alphen aan de Rijn) etc.
Most of the non Roman era reconstructions are from Iron Age (Celtic) buildings.
The Slifferthuis in Eindhoven is reconstructed after an Excavation which took place in 2004/2005 and is dated, thanks to some finds, in the 1st century BC to the first half 1st century AD.
Final report is not ready yet, this was an excavation of about 10 hectares.

Correct not a typical Roman building as found in a city, but something you could find in a rural setting.
Pieces of Roman era pottery have being found on the surrounding fields of HOME in the past.
The old gatehouse is reconstructed after plans from Grobbendonk (Belgium).
The nearest big Roman city, for us here, is Tongeren (Belgium).
Its is only small villages (6 tot 10 house plans, and its support buildings) that we find here.
The nearest villa is Hoogeloon.
