Reconstruction of a Celtic Gate/Wall
#1
this here is the almost finished reconstruction of a celtic gate in my hometown. it was originally a part of the oppidum alkimoennis and went through the forests on the michelsberg.
this year the archeologic park of kelheim will be opened. the gate is part of it.

Wow. When the Germans set out to do something they do it right.

I wish there were more reconstructions here in the UK. Seeing ruins is one thing, but even an artificial reconstruction can go a long way to make you relive the experience.

Nicely done!

they plan to set up reconstructions in 16 different places from neanderthal caves to iron age barrows and roman barbicans. I'm very excited to see the whole things finished...

furthermore they want to renovate parts of the roman castell abusina in eining ( 10 km from here)

Amazing! Was there a part of the entrance that was a gate? The photos don't show it, but reason says there must have been. Log frame construction? Iron hinges?
