#1
Salvete omnes,

I finally finished my first reconstruction of this caliga- and used my new 9mm hobnails to really finish it up

Very nice work, Matt! Here's mine for comparison (I think I put the frontal tabs a bit too far apart with that first try):

So, do the straps go in between the toes like flip-flops? Silly question, I know.

No, although such a construction is clearly depicted with some reliefs e.g no such military caligae have been found so far.

I really like this style of caligae, they have that 'je ne sais quoi' sort of look! Smile

Might I ask if there are patterns for these available?

One question though, how do they fit your feet? It looks like you made the sole rather wide around the heel. I think that the upper should wrap around the heel to lock the foot in place. I've been achieving that by making the sole very narrow. Then again, I do have rather narrow feet.

Hi Pedro,

you could either use the one posted by Lee here (not exactly the same, though) or PM me you email address and I'll send you the one I used (I will certainly overwork this one a bit for the next one, however).
