Jasper, don't you ever sleep? Take a rest? Are there moments in your life when you are not busy with RAT? Thanks for your care in general and this article in particular.
Of course there is always something to disagree with. I think that the statement Quote:The blanket grant citizenship to virtually all inhabitants of the empire through the Constitutio Antoniniana may have been inspired by a will to enlarge the tax base, it had the added effect of finally completely removing the main attraction of auxiliary service.is not correct; I am aware that Cassius Dio suggests that money mattered a lot for the Constitutio Antoniniana, but those who could pay more taxes, had already have received the Roman citizenship. As far as I know, there are almost no inscriptions from, say, the reign of Commodus and Severus, that show benefactors without Roman citizenship; I think it was Birley who pointed this out for the first time. Whatever you think about it, the Constitutio Antoniniana was not a "blanket grant citizenship to virtually all inhabitants" - it was only applicable to free men.

Hi Jona.
I'm sure you realized this is actually a draft for part of a chapter. Thanks for the correction. You're right of course that it should be better specified. Perhaps I should just take the reasons behind this measure out. It's not what I'm concerned with anyways.

Hi Jasper,
in the part about the Imperial Guard: Quote:His solution was to garrison only the duty cohort in Rome and the rest outside of the city.In fact as many as three cohorts could have been garrisoned in Rome during Augustus' reign (Suet. Aug. 49). Greetings Alexandr

Thanks Jim. I think it'd be better though if you just sent these corrections to me. Grammar is not really the most interesting for the other members.
