Kevin use linen and I would use copydex but since you have painted it not sure if it would stick, have you covered the shield with any material before panting? Otherwise it looks great

Standard DSC Scutum, Cearleon type, with only the pre said paint upon it
I would prefer a thick Linen over the "butts" so to speak, as I know paper at some time will break.
Still need the best glue to use please.

Well go with a epoxy resin key the area around rivet put a bit on linen and area around rivet once dry a quick key over linen then paint. Use maybe surgical gloves to help push the linen down onto the shield.
