is there a previous thread that doesn't come up? I searched 'Strasbourg.' Specifically, can anyone set a better date than Adrian Murdoch's 'late August?' Why not early September?
Thanks
Thanks

Did you change the search timeframe? It defaults to "1 year and newer."

Unfortunately Julian's own account of the battle is sadly lost to us. The most useful accounts are those by Ammianus, Libanius and Zosimus. None of these give a specific date but do say the battle took place during the time wheat was harvested, so that would be between July and September depending on the weather during the spring and summer months.

There's this thread:
http://www.romanarmytalk.com/17-roman-mi...l?start=15 The batlle comes up now and then, but it threads not directly about the battle but discussing, cavalry, Ammianus, Julian, troop numbers etc.
