Hello!
I'm working in a new Coolus type helmet for my group. I have used the Robinson drawings and pictures. I have found that there are a lot of helmets without original cheekpieces preserved in place. I have made a coolus "dome" wit the hinge positioned very rear, near the begining of the neckguard. If I put a cheekpiece reconstructed, the efect is that there is a lot of face without protection, very diferent to the usual reconstruction.
What do you think about?

Excellent work Cesar! I think you'll be fine with whatever cheek piece you decide to go with.

Wonderful job on the helmet!!!!
My question to you is , how did you reproduced the bowl? I would like try to make my own bowl but have not had any luck on finding anyone that can spin metal bowls. Perhaps beating the bowl into shape?
Thanks,

Excellent work Cesar! Definately deserving a laude!!
Just out of curiousity, where did you source the bronze, I am findinf it difficult to find any locally at a reasonable price!!

It looks like 14 gauge? Is it spun? The price of bronze has doubled over here in the last year.

The dome is buy in germany. It's no spininng, it's not round, it's oval. The point for the plume it's made in a lathe.
The checkpieces are brass, so are a little more yellowish.
The neckguard it's 3 mm, but the rest of the helmet it's less (1,5-2 mm).
And, yes, the inspiration for the neckguard it's the London helmet, but with another cheekpieces and without the feather supports.
Peroni, do you think the neckguard it's a little long?
Now i have to take of some rough surfaces, and probably polish a little.
