Not bad, Daniyal. Looks like the shoulder pteruges are a little weak, maybe, but nice closure in the front. Is there any support padding in the shoulders?
The junior Centurion is a good looking kid, too.

All the subarmalii on this thread are really neat.
There's a UK website that makes them :

The price is a bit high end for me but I like the design.

Thank you.
There is a padding on the shoulders. Fully covered by heavy lining too.
Junior says 'thankyou' too !!!

Just because the subject is a leather subarmalis that doesn't make a leather subarmalis authentic at all. I'm not having a go, just adding a reminder in case we all make too many assumptions Wikipedia-style.

I agree with Jim - the subarmalis looks nice but as far as authenticity goes, I have some doubts....

Gents,
where are the doubts coming from? Is it in that we really do not have any surviving pieces of a subarmalis, or that leather is bit unbreathable?
Not challenging by any means, but AFAIK i was under the impression that because there was no archaeological or even sculptural evidence of a subarmalis that we are all scratching our heads and re inventing the wheel on this.
Having made my own subarmalis, I think the idea of a commercially available one is a great idea.
Daniyal. could you perhaps model this with perhaps a hamata over this?

It's not about what individuals believe, Mike, and I'm not about to start the argument here when there are at least two threads discussing leather versus linen far more explicitly. My comment was merely to remind everyone that we don't know, as I felt the thread was becoming one of those situations where a lot of people will say it was so, simply because a lot of people wear it.

I agree with Mike. I also agree with Jim. Anyway, I thought that the purpose of a SUBarmalis was to support the actual armor, and provide padding at crucial contact points (trapezius, clavicle, shoulder socket) for the secondary protection and padding of the armor. Maybe I've missed something in these zillion words, and that would surprise nobody.
From my own experience, and some other areas of observation, leather has better abrasion resistance to metal friction than linen. Once the threads in the cloth weave begin to abrade and fray, the strength of the fabric decreases more quickly than scuffed leather. I suppose someone could set up a test.
Comfort, function, and evidence (or lack of it) are not really conclusive, as far as I can see. Primarily because it's hot here in Texas, my subarmalis is cloth. But that's just me. I don't mind if other people wear a leather one. Both have their respective virtues, imho. I won't argue for exclusion of either one.

I agree, Mike, as we have no evidence, to argue against either is pointless, and we should just do our best to make it suitable, and try to copy what we can see from sculpture, how ever limited or controversial it may be. Better some form of subarmalis than none at all!
Danilell SC's looks good, and I would not throw it away, for sure!
