A needlefile would definetely do the trick in my opinion.
Talking about crests, not all Greek hoplitai wore crests did they, the majority of helmets found are without crest attachment points...

actually hetairoi would just mean friends/company, and having the most splendid armour usually would mean that your hetairoi were also quite significant. That said, i don't think that a crest would have such significance ;-)

119 Euros if i remember correctly. You have to go to the main Armae page and then to ancient helmets and find the thumbnail photo of this helmet where it says all the info.
It is very cheap indeed!
