It was pretty good wasn't it! Even if we did have to wait three hours for our curry!LOL

yes that is true but it was good Big Grin
"The Kaiser knows the Munsters,
by the Shamrock on their caps,
And the famous Bengal Tiger, ever ready for a scrap,
And all his big battalions, Prussian Guards and grenadiers,
Fear to face the flashing bayonets of the Munster Fusiliers."

Sewerby Hall was truly excellent. Record turnouts, good horses and excellent tack. The ballista worked like a dream. Memories were made and much film taken. I believe pictures can be viewed from the Comitatus events pages.

Trial Run: Pub Evening in York.
All with an interest in Ancient Greece/Rome/Whatever, Welcome.

The Golden Fleece, York.
Wed 26 Sep 07.
About 7.30 pm onwards.

Look for the bloke in the Scotland rugby jersey.

This is very much a 'toe in the water' to see who is interested (to the extent that no specific room has been booked). It doesn't matter if you are interested in the history, reenactment, archaeology, wargaming, anything: please bring your interest/enthusiasm/passion along. If there is sufficient interest we may develop this through booking a venue or arranging a theme/speaker. The most important thing is for vaguely kindred spirits to get together socially, and we can take it from there.

Be pleased to inform the Emperor that the York Chapter of RAT gathered at the Golden Fleece in York last night. Ale was quaffed Big Grin roll: and we evening managed to rebuff the siren-song of not-quite-Vestals who attempted to lure us from a mature consideration of the defence of the Empire  .

And in years to come I'll be able to say, "I was there".

Good to meet you,
