Although I'm not sure of where this example comes from, below Germanicus is addressing Emperor Tiberius and holding a small round shield.
Does anyone know what type of shield is he carrying? It has a vertical grip offset to one side and appears to have first vertical bar that the arm goes through. I’ve never seen this type of shield used in Recreation of the early Emperor period.
Also, does anyone know if this image is from antiquity? Or was it perhaps created and overly embellished in the 1800’s or something?
